I heard that if one is on H-1/EAD, it is tough to secure a loan with 5% down. Any truth to that? Also, what are people's thoughts on paying PMI? Is it better to avoid PMI with a 20% down payment?

Yes, I got a CD from USCIS with all my I-140. I requested for copy of I-140 approval notice corresponding to I-140 tracking number SRC.XXXXXXXXXXX. This is the same number I got from my employer for online tracking on USCIS website. It took over 4 months. I submitted this as soon as got approval on my I-140. If you dont have the tracking number, you may try to get your A# from employer or attorney. You can use the same reason that you are changing address or that you need it for visa stamping. I believe they ask for A# in visa interview form.

It is foolish to expect idiots like you to come out of the gutter because you just enjoy the smell of the gutter. Expecting that your rants will have any affect on people who take advantage of immigrants is extremely foolish. And expecting folks like you to stand-up for yourself and do something about this is even more foolish.
One more thing, only desi consulting companies are not the problem. Companies who figure out a way to take advantage of its employees, will do so. All companies are in the business of making bigger bucks for its shareholders. If they can figure out a way to make more, they will, even at the cost of taking advantage of immigrants. Desi companies figured out the loop holes first. Some of the other companies followed, others are still learning. It can be argued that % of such elements in desi consulting are more because they were the first to figure out the loopholes. But desi companies are not the only group taking advantage of immigrants. They are all the same. And folks like yourself feed into the problem. So please stop blaming just the desi consulting companies, because all companies are the same. Some companies have not yet figured out the ways to take advantage of immigrant employees. But these comapnies are learning fast, because they want to be competitive, right?

In our pre-trial conference, we don't have chance to say any words in our case. Judge only asked my wife if she need no-contact or peaceful contact with me. My wife said no for either. But that DA still insist peaceful contact. Finally judge set peaceful contact for us.
SO far my wife's police statement is only words from her. Definitely my wife support me, she even asked my attorney if she plead guilty to peace disturbance, is that possible to dismiss my battery charge. Sure I don't want to risk her for any bad record. I will say we are in good marriage although we play around all the time. (Definitely we much careful since that terrible event)
Is that useful we find some witness, my wife's colleague and friends to demonstrate we are in good relationship?

I don't know how to open a thread to run a poll to track the number of people ready to send flowers to white house/president to highlight our case to buy houses if there is a a provision to approve GCs on a fast-track basis. With a substantial fast track fee (>4000 dollars) and 20% down payment toward house payment, we have a strong case. If we get hundreds of people ready to send to flowers, may be IV can make it an action item.
In overall picture of the country for housing and financial fix, number of EB's waiting for GC is miniscule. Giving every EB waiting a GC is not going to instantly change the mindset of the rest of the US people. People are not buying homes, because those who would have bought homes in 2008, 09, 10...bought in 2005 and 2006, as they didn't want to be left out, moving demand forward. Now we have a lot more homes and demand for years to come. Home prices will stay soft for at least 5 years.

Use a competent attorney. Do not try to handle this yourself. I am sure that you have heard of "you get what you pay for"...
BTW, are you one of those cases with a 3 year degree + Experience, working in IT? If yes, the I can see why your I-140 was rejected. Lot of people have had this issue, but I do not know how many have successfully been able to resolve it.

When I applied for my labor , Even though , Ad is given for B.S and 7+ years of experience, My employer told me that My labor is applied on Eb3.
After my labor was cleared, when applying for I-140 , we had to change the attorney.The new attorney applied I-140 in EB2 category.
when I asked the new attorney about this , she informed me that , since I have got B.S and 10+ years of experience, I am eligible for EB2.
since I did not get to see the Labor clearance certificate, I dont know on what basis Labor is cleared.
Now I am confused whether I am in EB2 or EB3.

Even though the hearing has been scheduled for the bill S 424, the hearings are not tightly linked to a specific bill. Hearings are a means to collect the data related to the issue at hand. The hearing results can be used to a wide range of related bills. S 1085 is a very similar bill and the emphasis of this bill is also reuniting families. During markup of whichever bill they pickup, they can amend the new pieces of the other bill.
If it is a markup, then, it is tightly linked to the bill.
So, definitely the party remains in good standing :)

I filed my I485/EAD/AP on August 7, 2007. Does this mean that I do not have to pay any fee for EAD renewal now ?
The instructions say this -

If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-765 at a later date. I did not know unskilled workers can file for greencards in EB3. I think things are getting better and USCIS is now trying to stick to the rules.

I just wanted to get this discussion back on track of ppl wanting to be able rise up a little, let their wives work and feel the freedom to make a decision to go back.
Let me restart the discussion. I know we are all frustrated to the extent that we want to pack up and leave but we have invested too much time to do that. But let's assume things start moving and we get our GC's in a year or so. Having spent so many years waiting to "settle" would you be willing to unsettle your life again and start over in a country that you left more than a decade ago.
Note that I am not doubting anyone's intention or disrespecting any entry. Just wondering if its the frustation talking or there are ppl who would actually leave?
