So USCIS will never see the flowers becoz they are boxed.. and they will never get delivered becoz they are being routed from the airport itself. No major news media covered the few deliveries at USCIS.. What was the point of the campaign again?
In the past week, the "Protest Blooms" campaign notched up the following wins:
Times of India article
Buzz in the blogosphere
Attention from many attorney websites and blogs
Had a Washington Post journalist show interest in our issue and had tens of our members talk to her - which should result in a good article. How many times have we seen so many regular members of IV being able to speak to a reporter of a mainstream US publication on our issues?
Had a senior Reuters editor talk to many of us and he promised a sustained coverage of our issues
Had a senior reporter from New York Times talk to me
Had the footage of this entire event shown on CNN in India
Had many small media outlets which never cover these kind of issues, cover it (in smaller towns in MN and NY)

Like Nixstor said, lets learn from what went right and what went wrong to work on other events for the next time, instead of passing judgment and sarcastic comments from a high perch. Today we received our welcome notices. The PD on my application is correct but the PD on my wife's application is same as the receipt date. Is this normal for the dependent application?
Our applications were approved based on substitute labor. Our 485 is based on 140 with PD Aug 2006 but we have another substitute labor with PD Nov 2005. When I applied for 140 with PD Aug 2006, I added my wife as dependent. But in the substitute labor I am not sure if my wife was added.
Is there anything to worry or just ignore it?

Check with your lawyers. It should be easy to get an amended approval notice or atleast a letter from USCIS that it is okay.

I think if you have I-551 stamped on your passport then you do not need any other document. i-551 is as good as physical green-card. You can carry the approval notice with you. This is my opinion, do no quote on me.
Our cases were approved on Sep 21, 2010. Received approval notices on Sep 25, 2010. But did not get the Cards yet. I am planing to travel next week. So I went to local USCIS office and got the I-551 stamp on my passport. Can you guys suggest me what other documents I need to take along with me if I don't receive the cards by the time I leave. Also pls let me how long will it takes to receive the cards.

I do received RD as July 2nd and ND: Oct 10 on RN. I am not planning to bug IO@NSC for EAD or NC untill Jan 2008 or I see my PD current per VB.

I thought each EB category could get upto 28.6% of 140000 = 40000 visas every fiscal year. So if EB1 uses up 5000 and EB2 takes the remaining 35000 and its annual allotment of 40000, EB3 does not get any spillover.
Thoughts?

He may have seen many people worried about this issue on IV and he wrote on his site . Now you are becoming his agent and posting on this site. This is not a news. It is only a comment. It can be true/partially true or partially false.
To me this issue is a non issue for which IV is working and this lawyer is blowing out of proportion. Only handful of people got denials and that too because their Desi employer acted in revenge for them leaving the company.
Revoking 140 does not neccessarily have to come from desi employers. In most cases, the 140s are revoked because the immigration attorneys suggest the employers to do so, so that they need not carry paperwork and also make it easy to respond to rfe for ability to pay.
For Immigration Attorneys, this is bread and butter and they will get into all avenues to do business and make money and keep their business running and booming.

I don't disagree with any of the statements.. It is totally personal decision for someone to donate or not.
I agree that there is no silver bullet in any analysis. It is a number crunching game.. What is important is follow-up after analysis, which is only possible with IV.
Dems want votes and more Hispanics
GOP want more temps since it is very good for business
Lawyers want more money so they are not interested in solutions. They are in it for money

Call (in the morning) 1-800-375-5283 and follow this sequence: 1,2,2,6,1,1,1,3,4.
If the Immigration Officer is kind enough you can ask if the Name Check is cleared. If he/she says No, you can ask him/her the date it was sent to the FBI.
I called today and they couldnt tell me anything at the 800 number they just said that they would contact me if they needed any information.... guess I just sit tight for now!

USCIS and or DOS don't quiet yet understand the full implications of this flower campaign. They still are feigning ignorance or adamant in their analysis of the july fiasco.
Untill this flower campaign is further carried by major newspapers, we still cannot declare full victory.

I am on H1/EAD and own a home. Lenders don't deny you a loan solely based on your visa status. Some think its too risky to own a home before getting a green card. I think this is a personal choice you make based on your comfort level. IMHO, we should keep the home ownership out of this. If we include things that are simply not true, it will only make our letter(s) less credible.

However, I have heard of one case right now because of the subprime mess where the lender did not go ahead with the loan because of the risk. i am not saying there arent any banks out there where you wont get a loan, but some banks are switching gears and making really safe loans compared to their risk taking ability a few yrs back.

Based on the June Bulletin, I will be filing my I485 in June.
Now, I have H1-B(with my current company till Feb'2010 that I just got approved a month back.(not stamped in passport yet)
-- Should I file EAD for myself ( I probably would want to change jobs after 180 days) ? Or is it better to be on H1-B.
-- Should I file AP for both myself and my wife(she is on H4) ?
Also, when I decide to change jobs using AC21 rule, is it better to tranfer
H1-B to a new company or if I have EAD, how does that work ?
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated..!!

If I were you, I would apply for EAD and AP for spouse and self immediately. You never know when you may need it. Say, your company announces a merger and your entire department is wiped out and you have to leave before coming Friday. It would be almost impossible to find another employer who will send the new H-1B application before Friday. In such instances EAD will help to keep you in status. EAD card for spouse will allow her to apply for SSN and thus Drivers license. AP for wife will help to travel out of country after you have used EAD. So in short, I would apply for all the docs for all members of the family. This could result in spending couple of hundred dollars but will help secure peace of mind.

I always thought applying for AP when priority date is current will result in them looking at your 485 application and eventually approve it.

You know every time I hear the so called "highly skilled and educated" complaining about predatory lending, it reminds me of our maid servant in India. She would constantly get into trouble by borrowing money from her neighborhood sharks at high interest rates, and then come to my parents for help when she couldn't pay up. My parents would give her a well meaning scold, and help her out only because they knew she was illiterate.
Now I wonder how these guys like punjabi7, kumar1 and leo2606 can blame the lender only for what they got themselves into. They even go as far as claiming that moral, ethics, and scruples are all some kind of fairy tale virtues that are hardly ever practiced in real life. They even have the audacity to assume everyone else here shares their definition of what's right and wrong by saying everyone has at one point or another returned used items to stores!
Punjabi7 still insists on avoiding morals in the discussion and is persistently soliciting for "advice/options" for his so called mess.

The very people tossing aside ethics are the ones who used good faith based credit system. Now suddenly it is all Capitalism, Greed, Bank's and Lender's fault. Whatever happen to personal responsibility ?
All those suggesting foreclosure are forgetting one thing: The pendulum has shifted and the same capitalism that supported the reckless credit is now going to choke it off. You don't want to be on the wrong side twice !!!! The thing about free markets is they adjust to new realities long before people do.Before you know it the easy walking away (or foreclosure) might become the biggest mistake while buying house might be distant second.
In the meanwhile please don't shoot the messenger aka sledge_hammer. If you read his posts he has given the best advice with a good dose of much needed reality and sound language. If you are hostile towards him you are simply in denial. The longer you stay there the harder it will be to cope with the new realities.

You will earn it back but you can't undo foreclosure and whatever comes with it in terms of personal memory, your credit and things in future that you can't foresee now. Do the right thing it will only make you stronger and someday you will be able to tell your kid that you did the right thing in the face of adversity and eventually not only survived it but thrived out of it.
