Hmmm - not sure because, if the job requires that someone must have security clearance - the job must clearly mention that someone with security clearance is needed. What is the point in hiring a citizen without security clearance (unless they want you to get clearance aftewr hiring)
Non discriminatory postings look like this
(1) Authorized to work in US for any employer
(2) Requires a security clearance
One cannot specifically say - I don't want EAD or GC or I want only Citizens.
Desi3933 and other knowledgeable folks out here - please write your comments. I hope I am not wrong.

how do i check if my name is stuck in fbi namecheck or cleared? Just callin USCIS will provide the info or is there anythin to be done.

:confused: I have been advised by my lawyer to not apply for h1b extension anymore. I am now on my 8th year. I had my finger printing done December 2006. I also got my EAD valid for 1 year and also have my advanced parole just in case I will have a need to travel. What is your advice? My My 7th year H1B extension expires next month in March, 2007

Seems like there might be an internal memo or understanding between USCIS and DOS not to approve many Eb2 India 485 even though there dates are current, this is the only explanation I can come up for the lack for eb2 india approvals in October. Even with the limited number of visas every quarter I was hoping there would be lot of approvals because of Visa spillover occuring every quarter instead of once every year, but looking at the USCIS performance in the first week of october it seems like there wont be any quarterly spillover at all.
Even if quarterly spillover happens, it will happen in Dec - that's what I think - correct me if I am wrong.
I anticipated monthly EB2-I to be finished in two business days - more or less it appears to be (200 odds is a small number for India). Now I am waiting for prioirty dates - whether they show +ve movement and next month for approvals.

That's because the existing cases have not had a chance to file their I-485 and therefore are not visible in that report. Does not mean they don't exist. My case is a perfect example of that. I'm not counted in that report but I certainly exist! :-)

No, the idea is; if you cry for gold you will atleast get silver. When the point is raised that people have been living here legally, paying taxes, SS, owning houses etc etc for 10 years!! what more is actually needed for citizenship?? The idea is to highlight that legal residents (many of them) have been here for ever!! 10 years is almost 15% of an average life span!! If only this thing is highlighted in some strong news papers. Isn't this protectionism at its worst. US is complaining about labor laws in China???? What the heck is this here??? You pay taxes and SS and medicare etc for 10 years and then you are asked to leave??????????? Isn't this slavery??? Either take of the requirement that workers on visas have to pay the required SS / medicare etc or assume responsibility for having taken their hard earned money and let them in as soon as possible into the society.
Giving an "expedited citizenship" is not like giving a stimulus check.

Very good. If it passes in 2-3 weeks, which we all hope is the case, that will be just excellent. Since there are some provisions like guest worker program for 11 million illegals also part of this bill, it is possible that the debate for this bill may also take sometime and may go through some roller coaster rides. Let's hope not.
Once the law is passed, the date of implementation is usually part of the law. I am not able to confirm if these are any dates mentioned in this bill. But my guess is it should take effect immediately. I did search for the complete text of the proposed bill but could not find the link. Could someone please post the link to the complete proposed bill?

Lingo has a contract for 2 years. Will have to pay a similar contract break fee for Lingo as well.

Voice quality: Vonage is slightly better than Lingo. Lingo is ok too.

I may consider go back to teleblend, if they have a good deal OR any problem with Vonage.

The Ad says for client IBM Federal. Looks like might be for some federal projects that requries US Citizens. They could have mentioned need US Citizens with clearance, or people elligible to apply for clearance. May be the choice of words wasn't good... Regardless, this could occur more too... if the economy does not improve. Anyway, I think IBM should not have any problem with EAD and they themselves do sponsor GC, etc..

I dont see any improvement at chennai.I contacted consulate after 7 working days (after interview) and got reply to allow another 4 work days.
Consulate has handed over the passport to VFS on Jan 2nd and VFS has dispatched on the same day.I would be receiving that today.

Hard to tell. FBI nor USCIS has ever published demographic information on name checks. Out of 1 million USC and and 1 million or so green cards some of them get stuck in name check. Indians and Chinese don't make up more than 10% of these people yet, most of the name check complaints on the web are from these two groups. It is hard to say if this means these are the most affected groups because many family category immigrants may not be very educated and articulate and may not be petitioning the government and being proactive. So it is very hard to say if one or the other group is more or less affected. You can however look up the below link and form an opinion yourself from the 4000 odd signatures of people stuck in name check:

the Oct VB was expected gaffe by USCIS/DOS...they dont know what the hell they are doing..so continue this effort andmake more VISAS available which will make them work rather than just sit on their u know what...

Vonage won't affect any wireless connections.
Do you use a cordless phone ?
The wireless transmission from your cordless phone maybe affecting the transmissions from your wireless router.
Yeah, am using a cordless phone. I dont remember but even with corded phone I guess I had this issue. And the cordless phone is DECT 6 phone which shouldn't interfere with the wireless connection that is at a different frequency.
And what alternatives do you feel could solve this problem?
