I agree with immi2006. We set ourselves apart by the Flower campaign indicating that we are law abiding and peaceful.
If some one can come up with a format which shows the tax dollars we have paid so far and the social security we have contributed and we can extrapolate it to encompass the total estimated number of EB immigrants. That would be a sizable number and will wake everyone up. If we distribute this to all the Senators/Congressmen and media it could have a huge impact.
Maybe all IV members can send the two figures:

For those who don't know, the first three letters of the receipt number in you I-797 H-1b approval notice indicates the service center.
Like SRC is Texas, EAC is Vermont, LIN is nebraska and CSC for california.
Please include this info too.

It seems some of the members who interviewed with the media got carried away with "Gandhigiri" and all things Indian. It sounds ironic, we are craving attention from Indian media while trying to become Permanent residents of USA.

Please do not form conclusions about members who have interviewed. You might ask me how do I know it? Well, I am one of the guys who interviewed and explained everything about IV. The sound bite/theme of this campaign flower protest has its origins in Gandhigiri, which most of the media knows now. Thats how reporters tend to script it in their own ways and associate things based on history. You have to try to envisage how things work. If not, you can try doing an interview and see if "What you say is what is you see", even though facts are not misrepresented 100%
I am positive there are more interviews coming down tomorrow after the Rueters story popped up. I welcome all non-Indian IV members to step up and grab this oppurtunity to not only prove that IV has world wide members, but also can put their native country into picture so that IV can be more diverse.

I am no Gandhi and don't want to be one. I am just a common man trying to make my ends meet. Only thing I know is that if you come before me in the line I am affected. It is not a DMV line where every one will get their License, it is a ration line where the items are limited.

I485 RD: 07/26/2007
I485 ND: 08/24/2007
FP done only once in 2007 (forgot exact date).
Follow-up:
08/03/2010: Opened SR for primary (self)
08/05/2010: Sent email to NSCfollowup. Got reply that this account address is for following up on open SRs.
08/09/2010: Infopass appointment, did not get any useful info other than that case is being processed
08/09/2010: Opened SR for Secondary (spouse)
08/12/2010: Got response for 1st SR. Main gist of reply was that due to pending caseload in Nebraska, the processing time for my case has been extended :(. But the statement that got my attention was "Your application remains awaiting review by an Officer and you will be notified as soon as a decision is made. The Service is waiting for VISA availability." So called helpline again and was able to get to 2nd Level IO. She said that this statement is a mistake and that Visas are still available. Also confirmed that my case is with IO. However she said that I might be required to do FP again. The FP might be causing the delay.
08/13/2010: Contacted local congressman and asked help for following up.

Latest status: Still waiting, not sure what other action I can take.

How is response to MTRs sofar. Are they encouraging? What happens if MTR not approved what are the options?
I read on Mutrhy and RG's website that their initial MTR are successful and CIS has re-initiated 485s. This makes sense as the revocation of 485 in above cases were against the policy and possibly just an error. Its a different thing that it can create a havoc in candidates life, particulary if the candidate doesn't have H1 to back and if he is working on EAD. What a joke!!!

1. Why should he pay you more if he can get someone for cheaper price?
2. Are you willing to do the same job for the salary that is offered by TCS, WIPRO?
3. If you screw up , who is responsible? What can you do to mitigate damage? TCS/WIPRO can replace the whole team at free of cost to make project successful.
4. YOU guys want to leave companies at will but the companies should not replace you at will?
If you were bringing in value to the client that they cant get from TCS/WIPRO then you will have the job. Get some more skills, be best in the business and be smart. Know what it takes for long term success. You have to be on your toes all the time.

I was also planning to go to Kolkata this summer to extend my H1B for another 3 years. Now, I am so scared reading all about the PIMS verification; delay of issuing visas; and returning passports. I am also sacred because I did not apply for any AP because at the time of applying for my 485 my H1B was valid (in fact it is valid till July 08).
So, what would you guys advise me to do:
(1) Go to Kolkata (with my 485 receipt notice, original) and return before my
current H1B expires in July 08? Or, (2) apply for an AP (it is my understanding that AP is rejected by USCIS if someone has a valid H1B)? Please advise. Thanks.
this is my thinking... number of cases which are getting delays due to this PIMS check should be considerably less when we calculate in terms of percentage... all the persons who are getting passport quickly may not be coming to these forums as they will be busy in their India trip (though there are few people who posted and I salute them). And I guess whose passport get delayed .. most of those must be coming to such forums... so in terms of percentage it might be 10% or less of cases.. so if we decide to go for stamping, there will be risk of passport delay but the probability will be less...
these are just my thoughts.. no other source of information.

When leaving this country when I485 is pending, the I485 will not be deemed as abondomed because one travels on a "dual intent" visa. IF one, however, had filed an I485 while being on a diffrent type of a visa, like F1, or B2, one MUST obtaint AP before leaving. Other wise the person will NOT be able to re-enter the country even if one has a valid F1 or B2 visa and the I485 will be deemed abandomed. This is because by filing the I485, he/she has shown an immigrant intent, and both F1 and B2 don't allow for such intent.
So many people don't realize that a H1 or L1 are very POWERFUL visas.
I am not an attorney so do not take my answers for granted.

1. Get a letter from Senators and Lawmakers, that those H1B guys who have contributed to the economy by filling patents and doing reseach should get out of the country. I will be the one to get out first.
2. Lean this, business are been done to make profits. Employers in this country think about themselves not about you. Check John Hanity show and they will teach you the fundamentals. If employers don't earn any profits they won't do a business.

I am not at all interested in being in US. US is not the best in technology anymore. Europe is doing much better.
You have great thoughts, Talk to the senators and tell them to give our Social secutity, and other benifits we paid for and see how we move out of this country.

You are not making any case here, actually you are undermining it. This clearly shows the contempt that you have for the people of the country where you are desparately trying to immigrate to.
