Sonia has this immense lust for money and power.Though I'm least interested in her antics during Indira Gandhi regime and Rajiv Gandhi regime I'll add few lines.
Apparently precious antiques were moved from chennai to Italy.Near Orbassano where her mother lives there are two antique shops called Ethnica in Revlota and Ganpathi.These are blue collar areas.Her birth certificate says she was born in Turin but she told parliament that she was born in Orbassano.
Media says that she is from middle class family.But apparently there were few journalists who went to her town in Italy and apparently she comes from very poor family in Italy.
Middle class or poor family a person working as an aupair girl went to same restaurant as to the one to which elite folks like grandson and son of a coutnry's PM would go is interesting.Kind of unimaginable even in these days of reduced economic disparities as rich folks have their own hanging out spots.

I support having ongoing discussions with USCIS and having an amicable relationship with them. We should work hard to make the letter campaign successful. We have 30000 members but less than 2000 letters so far. While some volunteers are working tirelessly to make the letter campaign successful some do not want to take part in it at all because the Template's we have out there are asking for their Name, Address and Telephone Number. it is not a joke to mail out a letter to the president on which the signature of the person is not comprehendable and there is no Full Name, Adress and Telephone number. I spent hours last weekend answering people's questions about letter campaign but all I get in return is recommendations on what else I can do. There were no letters after all that. I totally support Walking_Dude on this.

The criticisms of this website are LAUGHABLE. The Economist's quality of life index has rated Canada and Australia the top countries on earth to live in, overwhelming, year after year after year after year!
Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth consistently dominate the top 10 cities in the world to live. 6 of the top 10?
Having spent enormous amounts of time in both those countries I can tell you they are wonderful, sensible places to live.
The index takes into account, cost of living, earnings capacity, safety, etc.
Canada probably has one of the most rosey futures on earth. It has an abundance of resources, a tiny population and ironically, global warming is adding to its opportunities. Both countries have avoided a single year of recession since 2000, are likely to benefit for ever-higher walls to migrants in the US, and on top of that, both governments continue to operate under surplus budgets.
Cost of living is actually far below that in places like NY and California.
Health care, while not top notch, provides better care on average to more people than is likely to be found in places like the US. Particularly for people that are older and more likely to need it.
Education is infinitely better. US Public schools are atrocious.
As for the weather, well duh! :) The weather in Minnesota, Chicago, New York and Detroit wasn't that much better last time I looked! And Vancouver is mild and stunning.
Yes, taxes are higher. How do you think these things are paid for? If you think it's a dog eat dog and you think that the state shouldn't provide education and healthcare, then that's fine. Canada and Australia just aren't for you!
Anyway, both countries have advantages. I love the U.S. and that's why I'm here. But don't let an inarticulate and unfounded set of ridiculous statements turn you off. Do you own research and make the choice that is right for you!

Nixstor: I know how responsible person you are. You must have given lot of thought to this. Even if 20-30% people buy house, that reduces the no of applicants waiting for GC which will make it faster for the people that do not want to buy now for various reasons.

Definetely a good idea, I completely endorse it. Even for people who arent eligible/dont have money right away- dont you think reducing the line will eventually help all of us. we dont need to jump 100 ft at once (read relief for all) as long as we are able to jump 10ft once without injuring ourself. Also for people cribbing about seperating rich, anywhere in the world i.e the concept after all they are taking huge risk by investing their hard earned money (just like 20% people contribute to 80%of taxes) they need a break somewhere.

I don't know if you guys heard about back dated H1 denials. If not below is a case.
Candidate has 1 month left in his H1/I94. He applies for H1 extension and submits 3 month project contract. H1 application was shelved for 3 months. And on 4th month application was opened up by some officer. He sees the project already ended in previous month itself. Now officer denies the H1 extension request with back date. That is when candidate receives the denial notice, he was already out of status for previous 3 weeks.
But in realty candidate got his project extended for another 3 months. Concerned officer should have requested for the latest/current project status docs. If officer did so the candidate would not have to be victimized.

The fact is Indians are responsible for their own problems and greencard woes. They want to live in this sorry state and blame everyone else around them except themselves. They do not have any pride in their roots and thus flee their own country. They do not come to this country for betterment of their skills, education and experience but because they want to flee the country. There maybe exceptions but this is what I have seen in Indians who are on H1B or who have become US Citizens.
There could be several reasons for people coming here. But most and primary reason is making some quick money and returning back. And a good portion of that money goes back to our motherland to prosper. People didn't flee the country. They flew out of the country because their skills are valued more elsewhere - its simple demand supply economics that made/makes our skills more valued outside - I don't want to eloborate more and hurt someone which definitely wasn't the intention.
IF we are after the GC, its purely for the mobility and assurity it provides and not for the path to citizenship. Though most of them want to return back, we still want the GC so we call the shots and not the INS. Long story short, no one is a traitor. They are just common 'smart' people - yah, they are common from the land we come from.

I thought the same way as you did too. I am no fan of these job shop companies but remember some one will pay the price and face hardships I hope its just those companies not the employees. But the way things are if this gets effective employees can also get into a limbo - which I dont like - like say someone has gone for visa stamping and that gets denied or worst his/her family is still in the US - or something like that. Its true that the employee should try and look for a new job opportunity meeting new regulations but its not easy as it sounds.
More important point to consider is that new rules/regulations the way I understand it were suddenly implemented mid-stream - you cant do that. What if in after some time they apply same regulations to say people on EAD and using AC21 (i am still not clear whether it already applies to EAD we will have to wait for legal experts to comment) ? Or worse yet they come up with new regulations for people who already have their GC's approved ?

The current memo is almost like a notice to gradually shut shop for them, it impacts not only the company but the employee and his / her family. If somebody has to return because of a re-definition of "Employer/Employee" then it�s a really bad thing to happen, in this case the ship will sink with all on board.
In Para 2, I believe again you are right, low hanging fruits and easy soft targets are the first to be picked up. I think more enforcement would follow, I think it started with issuing RFE's for end client letters(This is a mandatory requirement now for consulting companies). You are correct in saying that the target audience might be the next level!

As completely unrelated these two issues are (from a law maker's perspective) on a normal day, these are possibly those times when each of these issues can help the other.
IV has been discussing about the possibility of one for two solution (partial). The idea is to request congress to exempt EB applicants & their dependents from numerical limits of the Immigrant visas, if they buy a home. It is my belief that market sentiment is the most important thing in any financial market(s) and the housing prospects look pretty bleak. There are lot of members in the EB community that have NOT bought their own home, even though they could afford one because of the uncertainty with EB GC. IV's idea is to bridge the financial committees and judiciary committees in the House/Senate and see if corresponding Chairman/Ranking members are willing to listen. Things are moving so fast with the 700bn USD bail out plan and we will NOT have time to do things the normal way, through our counsel. We have to present this idea to the corresponding staff members of key members of congress (see list below) and see if this gets traction now or going forward.
Please do not bring EB-5 discussion/comparison here. The proposed partial solution is different from EB-5 in that EB-5 investors invest money and we are investing in our future with a genuine intention of making USA our permanent home.
If you already have a home, thats fine. Any such legislation will reduce the wait times in EB categories and we need housing markets to rebound for a safer economy before the ripple effects are felt every where.

BACKGROUND
Undoubtedly, we are all devastated by the shake up on Wall Street in the past 15 days. Experts agree that the underpinning problem is the housing crisis caused by sub-prime mortgage loans. Many of us, who cannot afford our monthly mortgage payments are losing homes and putting them up for sale and foreclosure, which further adds to the crisis. At the same time, most of the Employment-based (EB) immigrant community would like to purchase homes and make the United States a permanent home for their families. These EB immigrants however, are living in a state of limbo, mostly in rental apartments because of the delays and uncertainties involved with the EB immigration procedure. The wait times in EB categories are exacerbated by the delays in processing by USCIS, even though eligible applicants have filed for Permanent Residency also known as Adjustment of Status. Such processing delays have resulted in the wastage of 218,000 immigrant visa numbers (Page 52 of USCIS Ombudsman Annual report 2007). How can Employment based Immigrants help alleviate the housing problem?
(1) Employment based immigrants are highly skilled and are employed in occupations such as Software, IT, Health care, Energy, Finance, Education and Research & Development across the United States.
(2) Average income of these individuals/households is around 65,000/130,000 USD.
(3) All these Employment based immigrants have gone through Department of Labor�s recruiting process, which certifies that there is no willing, able and qualified US Citizen to do the job.
(4) Most of the Employment based immigrants have excellent credit history and good source of income to make the payments needed for their home mortgage.
(5) By requiring a 20% down payment from this group of buyers, Congress can directly channel this money to where it is need most � at the banks.
(6) Employment based green card applicants have been living in the United States for 6-8 years. Many of them have US graduate degrees in their fields of expertise. These applicants are well versed with the American culture and will not change the cultural landscape.
(7) Financial burden on US government and treasury will be reduced drastically if the glut of houses in the market decreases.
As a member of the community that wants to make the US its permanent home, I want to contribute to a solution that helps USA and US during these tough times. I sincerely believe that the 30 year commitment on mortgages by Employment based immigrants in the housing market, backed by solid, risk free mortgages can turn the down ward spiral in the housing market into a upward spiral.

As completely unrelated these two issues are (from a law maker's perspective) on a normal day, these are possibly those times when each of these issues can help the other.
IV has been discussing about the possibility of one for two solution (partial). The idea is to request congress to exempt EB applicants & their dependents from numerical limits of the Immigrant visas, if they buy a home. It is my belief that market sentiment is the most important thing in any financial market(s) and the housing prospects look pretty bleak. There are lot of members in the EB community that have NOT bought their own home, even though they could afford one because of the uncertainty with EB GC. IV's idea is to bridge the financial committees and judiciary committees in the House/Senate and see if corresponding Chairman/Ranking members are willing to listen. Things are moving so fast with the 700bn USD bail out plan and we will NOT have time to do things the normal way, through our counsel. We have to present this idea to the corresponding staff members of key members of congress (see list below) and see if this gets traction now or going forward.
Please do not bring EB-5 discussion/comparison here. The proposed partial solution is different from EB-5 in that EB-5 investors invest money and we are investing in our future with a genuine intention of making USA our permanent home.
If you already have a home, thats fine. Any such legislation will reduce the wait times in EB categories and we need housing markets to rebound for a safer economy before the ripple effects are felt every where.

BACKGROUND
Undoubtedly, we are all devastated by the shake up on Wall Street in the past 15 days. Experts agree that the underpinning problem is the housing crisis caused by sub-prime mortgage loans. Many of us, who cannot afford our monthly mortgage payments are losing homes and putting them up for sale and foreclosure, which further adds to the crisis. At the same time, most of the Employment-based (EB) immigrant community would like to purchase homes and make the United States a permanent home for their families. These EB immigrants however, are living in a state of limbo, mostly in rental apartments because of the delays and uncertainties involved with the EB immigration procedure. The wait times in EB categories are exacerbated by the delays in processing by USCIS, even though eligible applicants have filed for Permanent Residency also known as Adjustment of Status. Such processing delays have resulted in the wastage of 218,000 immigrant visa numbers (Page 52 of USCIS Ombudsman Annual report 2007). After reading so many cold calling failures, I am yet to see a "success story" of this methodology.
If nobody got "converted" after being approached by a total stranger in a public place, why does BWW/Quixstar/Amway continue to do it.
Perhaps we should ask Q/Teddy to collect this data, analyze it and prove to them the futility of it all. Maybe then they will stop and everybody can shop/work/study in peace. :D

If we increase the number of links from other web-sites, blogs etc to immigrationvoice.com, then immigrationvoice should show up earlier.
1) Does this mean that if we link from our webpages/homepages to IV, that it will count?
2) How about if I set up a website, create a thousand pages in it, and put a link to IV on each of those pages? Does that count? Is it the number of pages that point to IV that count? Or the number of websites? Do you know how the spiders work?
3) Also, how about clicking on IV. Like, can I google retrogression, and then go to page 2, and then click on IV. Will that count? If it does, then we can all do that daily. All the bums that come here and don't pay, they can atleast do this.

eb3_nepa, some people have the special ability to create business opportunities when others see none. E.g. Do you think a job at a primary school can be sold? Think again. You have to buy it in India. Another example... have you been to the Empire state building? For $12 you can wait in line for ~4 hours and enjoy the view after that. But for $40 you can go straight to the top. With labor sub its the same deal. Your company has an approved labor, there are 5 suckers who would otherwise wait 10 years in the GC line. They all do a great job of Java programming that you need your prospective employee to do. How do you decide which one to hire?
For some companies its easy.. they select the one who pays them a premium.
To your other question... no you cannot transfer approved labor to other company... so if you want to be in this business of labor subs, you have to go through the pains of labor before being able to sell one...
Some smart people have figured another great business. They go through the labor pains once and then clone the labor certs (hint: color copier)... those visionaries sometimes end up behind bars...
