Other than the trust that the core members are doing the right thing, I have no information/idea about the issues that IV core is focusing currently.
I think FOIA was a great success because the members knew exactly what IV was upto and everybody wanted to be a part of it. I believe that if IV could define several small goals like FOIA, post regular updates about the progress on the goals, a lot of people would be willing to support it.

I liked permfilings idea about a mass day off from work...and a small meetup in each town..however this has to be publicised that its going to happen...I guess this should be the first symbolic thing..the next thing..i really loved the sweeping streets idea...we shud do this in front of capitol hill...much better if we all wear suits and carry brooms to brush the dirt off..and have posters that say..PLEASE BRUSH THE DUST OFF - OF MY GREENCARD APPLICATION AND PROCESS IT....

1. Did you get already your GC approved?
2. I think you DO need PD to be current for GC approval. In best case scenario, GC could be approved in matter of 10-15 days, so for July filers there were some GC numbers available, and few lucky ones got their approvals. This is how I see it... please correct me if I'm wrong.
3. It would be interesting if shimul99 would share with us as when exactly his status was adjudicated. I've read somewhere that there are cases, that people got their GCs approved by mistake and lawyers suggested to inform CIS and return the GC. These people were then having their statuses adjudicated when their PDs were becoming current.

This is a bunch of baloney.
Whether this is a recession, a depression or a hyperinflationary cycle and economic wipeout, America will remain the pre-eminent world power in the next quarter century.
The US has the most trusted currency int he world(sometimes I wonder why, but the fact is it remains such or else its value should rationally be a lot lower right now).
It has the best universities and research centers, and remains a magnet to the worlds most motivated people.
It has the strongest military in direct face to face combat.
It has the largest, most well integrated, and diverse economy in the world.
Cultural differences while they exist are far less than many other democracies, mainly since this is a newer country built on diversity and tolerance. They have just elected Obama as president, if that does not represent the best of secular ideals, I am not sure what does. The US has a lot of cultural bonds in entertainment, sports, social programs like Medicare/Social Securities, Large corporations and brands etc that are remarkable cohesive forces.
This is a pure wish list from a bitter former KGB man, who is given a megaphone by an even more bitter Putin, who is still smarting from the disintegration of the USSR and wants the same for America.
Dream on former KGB, dream on. If you want to know how united this country is, just remember back to the period after 9/11.

Also, this is useful for Priority Date portability, Priority Date is all your once your I-140 is aproved and you need to submit the copy with your next I-140 to use the old Priority Date, in this case also, it very useful if the employer does not share this info, and if we can get it from USCIS, we are not at the mercy of Employer anymore.
If you are seeking your i-140 for portability reasons, this means that you have already submitted I-485.
Since that is the case, then who cares if the employer will or will not revoke the I-140: IT IS STILL VIABLE for AC21 portability regardless of employer's actions.

FYI for you'll. I e-filed mine and wife's on June 6 at NSC lockbox in Phoenix. Opened a SR for both on Sept 7. Got approval emails for both of them Friday Sept 24. Also gotten soft LUD's on both applications a couple of days before the approval emails. If anybody needs more information, please let me know.

Having dealt with Americans in the past 8 years, I don't believe they planted evil designs in the current immigration systems just to get the best of us. The problem here is that people in this country have a very strong and almost unstoppable tendency to complicate things. Immigration system is one obvious example. PD date, quota, and ROW, millions of different forms etc. Its complexity is simply beyond you and me. Other examples abound. Legal system, taxation, state / federal relations, college admission, business dealing, etc. Once you reach teenage stage, there is no way you will ever live outside these sytems.
So why is this? First of all, Americans believe in fair and equal dealings between each others. Then natually they set up millions of rules / systems to even the play ground. Secondly, a complicate system is a lazy man's product. It's not a big deal if you can design a extremely complicated and all inclusive system. What's great is that you can make it simple and intuitive so even your grandma can use it, while at the same time it covers all objectives & purposes served by the complicated system.
My issue with this way of working is that the more complicated the system is, the more likely it will fail. Look at the space shuttle. Each of the one million parts was probably checked, double, and triple, and quandriply re-checked, but you put them together into the shuttle itself, you still got two space disasters in the past 20 years.
Another consequence of this social pattern is that systems most often get exploited by people armed with specialty knowledge. I guess everyone here paid the lawyers (or your sponsor paid). Same thing for the accountants. These specialists are taking advantage of the fact that ordinary people can not get a handle of the current situations and have to ask for help.

In most critical situations a person can file a lawsuit in federal court and ask court to 1) compel USCIS to process your EAD within 1-2 days and 2) enjoin DHS from going after the employer if person continues working with expired EAD. Part 2 is available only if employer wants to participate in a lawsuit. Otherwise, file it yourself, it requires the same amount of time as filing for EAD.

I own a house and haven't even applied for I-485. My PD is Sep 07. It's been almost 2 yrs since my purchase and I couldn't be happier.
I am thinking of buying a home without waiting for GC approval. I am EB3 I with PD 2006. No hopes of GC in near future. Just want to see the trend....

msgs like this help establish the notion that this is an indian website dedicated to indian immigration issues. I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.
The people who wants to be a part of American Society should first definately be a very open minded towards all cultures and social trends.
Other thing to be Indian or representing Indian traditions is not a crime but certainly every time barking against anything Indian may certainly be a crime as it is a clear indication of closed door or prejudicial mind towards one particular country and culture. Americans do not mind if one shows that he is Indian now and want to become in American future. Although they prefer that AND that is why they label Jindal as Indian-American although he born in USA. If there are majority Indians on IV board, it is not a crime but it is obvious. Some of my chienese friends on IV board may start thread for wishing chienese festival, I bet most Indians on this board will welcome and same goes with Muslim friends on IV board. Starting and wishing EID MUBARAK thread (By the way that is also a Indian tradition..And I am proud of that too) is not a crime and by now if nobody started it does not mean other people may not welcome it. If you are a Muslim, start the thread for EID Mubarak, I will be the first to welcome that step. You want to be American,, right?
